Join Chicago’s most popular storytelling and music show in celebrating “Story Jam is Seven” with us!
Story Jam is a diverse event which features a 10-piece band comprised of exceptional Chicago-based musicians and songwriters. One of the city’s most exciting “live lit” shows, Story Jam presents personal narratives told by award-winning tellers with original songs written for the stories. The use of related original music allows the audience to creatively absorb each story, often with a touch of humor or parody.
Songwriters, musicians, and storytellers collaborate to create a memorable, energetic, and engaging evening and this anniversary event will be extra special with guest artists, amazing music, and beautifully told personal narratives. Fans of NPR Radio will have heard Story Jam slated as: “The Moth with music.”
Among an array of musicians and vocalists, guest songwriters include pop jazz artist Sarah Marie Young and Poi Dog Pondering’s beloved violin diva Anne Harris. Several visiting storytellers from the national live lit community will present 99-second stories, which is a thrilling, newly-formed short story format. Select top local tellers will also share their compelling five-minute narratives.
Suggested age for this show is 16+ as there may be mature content.
